best way to clean used pistons and rods??

The best DIY way that I have found is to get a can of carburetor cleaner. Gunk sells it in a one gallon paint can with a parts tray. It is large enough to soak the entire piston and half of the rod. If you leave it in there overnight, it will be clean by morning. Then, you can flip it over and do the big end of the rod. If you don't mind spending a little money, you could check with a local machine shop and see if they can hot tank them.
