Default Lt1 Formula HVAC barely working

Hi, i have a 96 firebird formula and to start off with the heater doesn't get very warm. I checked and the thermostat in the car is in fine working condition and the radiator and overflow tank are full of antifreeze. My question is even once my car is warmed up why does my heat get very warm? It gets up to maybe 50 or 60, but no where near warm enough to defrost my windshield or warm the car up on a cold day.

Start by checking the inlet and outlet temperatures of the heater hoses going to the heater core at the firewall. If the outlet is cold at operating temperature, then there is a flow problem (i.e. heater core is plugged or there is a restriction). If both hoses are warm, then there is most likely a problem in the blend door or HVAC controls specifically the temperature control switch.

I feel your pain. I do not really want to get under the dash and open up the HVAC plastic on mine with the same problem. Seems like once that is opened up it's never the same.
