Default Weird electrical problem

After filling up gas today, I go to start my car and everything completely turns off. I try to crank it again but I get nothing. I open my door, close it then try to crank it and it works.

On a side note, every now and then when I'm cruising down the freeway, my exterior and interior lights dim for a split second. What could this all be? Hopefully nothing too expensive

i think it might be a grounding issue, not a 100% sure but might be it.

I'll check the connections, and it's a 2002 Z28.

I forgot to mention after I tried starting it after I opened and closed the door, it started but idled at around 2-300 rpm. It did that for about 3-4 times before it started up strong. Weird problem I've never heard of.

I hade the same thing, mine is a flakey ecu, I still need to replace it but right now I unbolted it from the plasic case and shimmed it with a rubber door stop, It works for now until my new one shows up from jegs.

I'll bet my left gonad it is a bad battery connection on the terminal. Had the same exact issue. You shutting the door probably just jarred the connection enough to make a good enough contact to start the car. You should tighten it or if it still isn't good enough if your terminals connect on the top of the battery like most cars....I used a small screw and screwed it between the terminal and the connection cable and it snugged it up good.

It happened again today. I popped my hood and sure enough, it was a loose terminal. Thanks guys!
