Default Should I remove the air pump?

Hi all,
I have a 99 WS6 with 110k miles, I recently started getting SES codes from the secondary air injection system, (air pump).

I've been reading that most people just remove the system and delete those engine codes.

Are there any cons to removing the air pump system?

Thanks!

Hi, I had the same problem, and removed mine (and deleted the codes with hptuners). The only difference you will notice is some unburnt gas smell for the first few minutes you start your car. Otherwise no probs!

No problem at all, like Grimes said unburnt gas and you will need to get it tuned out.

pull it all out air pump and egr. definitly a waste of space. you will not notice any difference in performance. just smell sometimes when i decelerate to a stop light since i pulled it all note i never had cats. so from no cats to then no air/egr the smell can be bad

Are you only getting one code? What was it? Might be as simple as a clogged air check valve.

I would'nt say its a tuner... Its more of a reader that can delete codes.
And yeah its basically all stock the only mod that the original owner on it had was satellite radio hahaha. (I ripped that out once I got a mile away from his house).

Its giving me a generic code of P0410... the reader just says Secondary Air Injection malfunction. (I did recently do a seafoam as the original owner of the car let it sit for a year or so, so I'm just cleaning everything).

Would eliminating the egr effect emissions at all? I still want to use this as a street car.

And I guess its time to head towards the Air! XD

deleting EGR/AIR/CATS/front o2's will all cause a SES light but if u have a tuner or deltle them from the computer then the SES light will be off an it will pass the ''LIGHT" test, if they check your exhaust pipe u will most likely fail.

If you are going to go into the tune you might as well change the AIR Pump Disable ECT to something like 284* so that the computer never tries to turn it on.
