Wink Odd "whirring" noise drivers side rear... 0_0

So I've got an odd situation here... w/ my 99 WS6 111,000 miles A4.

When I've reached a certain speed, usually around 40-50mph, it will sound like a vacuum is behind me... like a whirring or something... 0__0

Now - this only happens when I have a very light throttle. So essentially when my foot is only on the gas far enough to keep it going on the freeway. (If I push any further the noise is gone, or drowned out by the engine).

Its very odd, it sounds like its coming from the speaker sometimes, sometimes it sounds like its coming from the wheel.

but ONLY on the rear drivers side... maybe I'm just crazy and the voices speak to me through vacuums

Any help guys?

At first I was thinking that it is probably your differential or transmission whinning...but you said a sucking sound, and only on 1 side of the car...hmmm, I don't know. I'm looking forward to some answers myself.

Does the car act any differently other than making the noise?

Its weird huh? I haven't noticed anything odd while driving...
I was thinking the same thing, (trans or diff), but its only when I press the gas going above 40mph...ish... and its only when pressed lightly.

Its like someone duct taped a small vacuum to the back left part of my car, and when I press the gas slightly its on & if I let off the gas it immediately stops...

i sometime get a slight noise that sounds like a turbo in the back. but i dont think thats your problem.

maybe air is getting under the spoiler where it bolts to the car?

At first I was thinking wheel bearing but then you said it had a vacuum sound so maybe an exhaust leak

Yanno, that could be it. Exhaust is linked to when I press the gas.
I'm getting a jack + jack stands today so I'll be able to get under the car and look.

HOPEFULLY its the exhaust
