Exclamation Coolant leak? Pic attached...

I was installing my new front sway bar today and noticed some coolant leaking...what could be causing this? How serious is this?

Didn't have a chance to further investigate but I will this weekend. Just wanted to get some feedback so I know what I'm dealing with.

BTW, disregard that turquoise stuff on the sway bar, it's just excess grease from the "D" bushing.

The water pump on my camaro got a crack in the bottom of it where it was welded together and caused me to have just enough of a leak to get the front wet. I wouldn't think the a/c pump would have been wet from that though since its all the way to the passenger side but its something to look at.

This is the water pump - but probably the weephole vs. a crack.

I just got through this exact same thing myself. (It took a while to figure out where the fluid was coming from.) Somehow, leaking coolant from the water pump weephole drips down on to the AC and ends up on the bottom like that.

New water pump and we're all dry now.

have you checked the heater hoses right above the a/c compressor? I know mine leaked like that when they started to go bad. I would think the water pump would weep more towards the center of the motor like on the crank and timing cover.

I. Had mine jacked up yesterday to change clutch fluid and tranny fluid and also noticed coolant leaking from my water pump. Looks like mine is coming from thecenter bottom where the seam is. I tried to see if there was a trail of water anywhere leading to it but couldn't see anything wet but all along the bottom. Sorry for the thread hijack lol. Must be cracked?

It comes from the weep hole behind the main pulley. (You can't see it very easily.)

That almost looks like pag oil from the a/c compressor. Any trails?

This is something I should be worried about? I've noticed a nice little spot on my driveway.

First you need to be sure if it antifreeze or ac oil. Compressor oil is actually clear, but the Ac oil can have a green dye in it that is used to find leaks. If it is oil, you probably have an oring on the back of the compressor leaking. If it is coolant, the heater hoses, and thermostat housing are directly above the compressor. If it is coming from the weephoke in the water pump,,,yes you need to be worried and fix it immediately, thats your sign letting you know the pump is on its way out.

If it is that o-ring is that where the rear hose/line is attached or a different location? And is that a cheap repair or new compressor, mine is leaking oil in that exact spot.

Its not oil. Its antifreeze leaking from the water pump weep hole. It flows down the block and collects on the AC compressor.

To confirm - If it was AC oil, the AC system must be leaking and shouldn't blow cold.

Mine IS leaking and it is PAG oil in my case. Its very common for fbody compressos to leak at the rear case seal, I looked thru at least 20 posts about this and a few show exact same picture....

But the test is correct, right? If you are leaking oil, your air conditioner performance is diminished, right? (If oil can get out, the refrigerant will get out also.)
