I don't recommend RP, better oils out there for the money. Really you can use any 5/10W30 bearing the API seal. I get Penzoil Platinum or Ultra or Castrol Edge 5w30 from Walmart in the 5 quart jug, whichever's on sale. No additives are necesary.

I go fully synthetic, usually valvoline or mobil 1, which ever is on sale with a free filter or cheaper that week. I have yet to put lucas in this car and its doing alright, my oil is changed 4-6 thousand miles depending on how dirty it is from the dipstick but its never really that dirty and I run my car pretty hard.

I remember a few years ago when I was stupid enough to pay like $8 or $9 a quart for royal purple. No oil is worth that much, unless they can make it safely last 50,000+ miles.

Regular non-synthetic Castrol GTX 20w50 here, 14 years and going just fine. 166,000 miles on my 427ci and no end in sight.........its all any LSx engine needs. Synthetics do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING more to protect an engine or lengthen its life. But marketing is really good in the synthetic industry so they sell allot of it......

And never, ever put any type of additive in your oil. Stabilizers....a total joke. Whats being stabilized...its oil......lol

End of thread.

Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic. I get the 5000 mileage one and change it every 3k. Oil is oil to most guys on here. I used lucas oil stabilizer on a few different vehicles and it got rid of the tapping or knocking that was going on. That's about all it's good for is once in a while use. But last I heard Lucas products are going down in quality.

Me too.....3000 mile oil/filter changes. Cheap oil. My 427ci just keeps on running and all my friends that waste their money on synthetic oil are rebuilding their engines after 40-50K miles......its hilarious.

I truly wonder when synthetic oils will go by the wayside and most people will just use regular cheap oil. Pretty funny.

Problem is, people think these LS1 engines are something special, they're nothing more than another run of the mill V8. Takes nothing special to keep it in good shape. Oh well.

Synthetic vs dino? Imo depends on the oci you want to run. Would you guys with your 427/383s go 7,500 miles on a dino oil? Synthetic vs dino also is only taking into account the base stock when usually the add pack is what makes the oil shine.

If your running conventional and changing at 3000 miles then good, you have been doing exactly wat conventional is suppose to used for. But you cant deny the science that had proven synthetic to be a much better alternative with expanded life span. If someone is running synthetic and rebuilding their engines after 40K miles, they obviously havent been doing something right or not changing the filters on time. Im not saying what your doing is wrong but you cant possibly be saying that conventional oil is far superior then a synthetic when numerous independent studies have backed the claims that the oil producers have come out with. Im not saying you have to use the most expensive brand at all but im sure you know, once you go synthetic you cant go back because youll develop gasket leaks due to the swelling of the gaskets caused by synthetics. But if you guys know something that I don't know please explain. Just from my research and my own personal experience with oils this is what I have concluded on.

Well all folks have there own opinions but personally, synthetic is proven to be better. REGARDLESS even running synthetic I still change my oil at 3k-4k miles. I personally run BG synthetic in mine but it's kinda hard to find unless you find a retailer that carries BG Goods. Pennzoil Ultra, Platinum are great as well. I'm not a Mobil 1 fan but still its great oil.
