Default Changing O2 sensor...

My car has a very strong gas smell when it is started. Its a 2002 TA with 113,000 miles. I've done some research and the most common cause is a bad/failing O2 sensor/s. Is this something I can attempt to fix on my own or should I take it to a shop and have them take a look?
Thanks!

If you can change your own oil, you'll be able to change the o2 sensors. To make it easier I would buy a socket specifically for o2 sensors.

You can definitely do this on your own. You will need a jack/jack stands. I changed out mine. The sensor on...I think the driver side was pretty annoying to get to, but nothing too crazy.

Spray the sensors with some Liquid Wrench a day or two before you remove them.

I changed both sensors in front of the cats the other day. With over 200K miles on this car, I expected these sensors to be rusted in place. But amazingly enough, both sensors came loose easily and I changed both in 10 mins. Definitely not a hard task.
