I have looked around on here and haven't found any stories of how ppl changed their plugs on their cars. I am looking to put my new plugs I. This weekend and was wondering if its easier from the bottom or top or some of both. I was changing my oil last weekend and noticed that some were visible from the bottom. Personal experiences would very nice thanks

There done both ways.......whatever works for you.

I have long tube headers....I do all mine from the top.

i do all mine from the top, and on the pass side, i remove the coil pack assembly for a lil more arm room

If you have a 95 Z (my assumption from your screen name), then you have an LT1. The first time I changed the plugs on my LT1, it took about 200% longer than I antiscipated / expected. (I blame the guy holding the wrench!)

Anyway, get an SLP "short" spark plug socket (or make one from an extra socket), disconnect the Battery, remove the alt and the starter, and then try each plug from either the bottom or top (whatever works for you!) and take your time.

Now, after 3 or 4 sets of plugs, I can do them all from the top in about an hour, but my first time was an absolute bear!

Thanks guys I looked on some other forums and pretty much every one says remove the starter and alternator. Now I'm wondering if any one has tried rocking the motor to the side to do the passenger side? Also its a given that the tr55 plugs are good so that's why I chose them will they be a noticeable improvement from stock? Thanks

I would suggest iridium plugs as they will last longer, and you will know why after you are done.

I was able to do my drivers side pretty easy. But, for the passenger side I had to go under the car to get #8, took a long time for me to get the others on that side as well, didn't move anything, just had to go from the bottom. Also, yes, if your stock plugs were shot like mines were, you will notice a difference. My car starts up much better, the throttle is more responsive and it idles a ton smoother than it did before.

I don't need to remove anything (Alt, Starter, or Y-Pipe) anymore, but I'm much more patient / experienced than I was in 04 when I got my LT1.

Suggestion - Do one or two plugs a day; start with #1 & #3 and then walk away; get a feel for the task at hand, don't let it overwhelm you. If you can do #7 or #8 on from the top on your first attempt, you will feel quite victorious!

I do NGK TR55 gapped .050....every 15,000 miles.
