Default Does antifreeze have a shelf life?

I opened up my overflow and to me the antifreeze smelled old. Not that sweet smell (car has 98k but maybe I am crazy? I thought it would be a good time to flush the system. What is the easiest/best way to do this? I assume it is the regular green antifreeze, how many gallons do I need. I found an unopened one to start but it is 10+ years old. What is my best plan. The car never goes above 210. Thanks. Brian.

I bought a Peak flush n fill kit from auto zone, has little water hose attachment and a few other things.
Idk how well it works, but going to find out when i have a chance to do it. Just have to decide what i'm going to do about catching all the fluids.

As for your amount question..

Capacity is as follows:
- 3800 V6 with manual transmission = 11.6 quarts
- 3800 V6 with automatic transmission = 11.4 quarts
- 5.7L V8 with manual transmission = 11.9 quarts
- 5.7L V8 with automatic transmission = 11.8 quarts

Fresh Dexcool. It isn't the green stuff but that's your choice. I keep mine the way it came from GM.

Good idea, that is a dam good question about catching the fluids. I don't want to flood my friends mantion where the car stays. I will look maybe the kit comes with an adpater?

Thank you! The original owner did have issues almost immediately back in '87. It was very common. The dealer re-painted the problem areas, mostly the roof and trunk. It has held up fine over the next 25 years. Here's a picture for you that was just taken on the Tail of the Dragon this past week (just click on it to enlarge).

Nice car, my friends is black & GM repainted the tops too. My other friend had a burgandy no aero but it is long gone. They would be more amazing w/ a 350 or 383. Lol.
