Default Intermittent shifter/ignition switch issue

1998 T/A A4. So for the last couple weeks occasionally when i put the car in park, the shifter doesnt allow the key to return to the off position. If i put it in neutral and firmly put it in park, i can turn the key of. I also discovered that the reverse lockout ocasionally doesnt work allowing me to shift directly into reverse without pushing the button on the shifter. Car still has the factory shifter and handle and i havent touched anything there for over a year. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
