Default Power steering leak!

Depending on where it is leaking, is it easier to rebuild it? or replace it... If its easier to rebuild it, are all Chevy steering racks the same? The car doesnt have the stock engine in it... I have no clue if its the stock steering rack

How much better does the car track with the manual rack? With 275s, it follows the ruts pretty damn bad, and I have to keep an eye on it. I figure it'll either be 10X worse with a manual rack or provide actual feedback I can use to more easily drive the car.

And the OP is in the Canadian Rockies. (Hint - It's not like being on the Gulf Coast.) I can't imagine trying to turn a cold manual rack on a -40 degree morning...

That's hard to tell because there are so many people advocating manual steering and a de-tuned pump as cure-alls'.

More than likely it's the stock rack and pinion. First find where the leak is, 9/10 it could be a rotted steel PS line, which AFAIR can't be more than $70 in parts.
If it happens to be your rack and pinion, don't bother with rebuilding it unless it's substantially less, as most parts these days come with lifetime warranties which justifies the extra cost in my opinion.

^^^True, but not ALL rebuilds/remans are created equal.

I would take a Turn One rebuild ANY/EVERY day over a new (if that is even possible), or remanned Cardone, regardless of any "limited lifetime warranties" they may offer.

The steering on the F-body is horrible to begin with. Anything you can do to improve it would be awesome.
