Default starter snapped the block....what do i do?

I started my car and I guess the gear didn't retract fast enough and the flywheel caught it and snapped the bracket on the starter and the ear on the block that it bolts into. How do I fix that?

You can buy that starter bridge bracket......pretty expensive IMO.

Or just do what I did and many others have done......find a welder that's willing to come to your house and just weld it back on. My welder did it in minutes in my driveway for $150.00
He may have to re-tap it also, no big deal.

Then you MUST go to ebay and buy the starter that has fixed that issue. Or GM and buy the newer style truck starter. It has the two LONGER bolts and the starter housing where the bolts go through have also been beefed up. I got my starter years and years ago for like $65.00 on eBay and it was just put onto my new engine. It's a beast.

Just read through this thread and you'll know exactly what to do.
