Default Will this work to test oil pressure gauge?

Im trying to test my oil pressure gauge in the cluster. My car is a 98 Z and I have a spare cluster from a 97 Z that i want to try swapping in. Will the oil pressure gauge read on the 97 cluster if i plug it into my 98? I dont care about any of the other gauges. Any input would be appreciated

Seems like a hard way to go about it, especially since the cluster gauge isn't very accurate. The needle on the actual gauge may have even moved on you.

Have you tried confirming the reading with an OBDII scanner? Its hard to believe that the cluster gauge would go bad.

What's the problem?

A few of us have had jumpy needles on the gauges and it seems the issue was the oil pressure sending unit: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...ding-unit.html

That was my first thought. I went ahead and replaced the OPSU first but still the gauge read 0. So then i did this test and after running for a second the engine got really noisy. So im pretty sure its the pump, ordered an GM high vol one already.

That sucks. I'm interested to know how that goes. It looks like replacing the pump is a bit of a PITA with the engine in the car.

the worst part is dropping the pan and making a mess with coolant. Ive had the pump off like 3 times so ive gotten pretty good at it lol
