Negative Battery Terminal Melted!

Negative Battery Terminal Melted!
Ive had this Optima for less than 3 months. No issues until today. The car got progressively harder to start throughout the day. I tried to let it idle and charge, but that didn't seem to help. The voltage on the cluster read around 13 while I was driving. Finally at one point I couldn't get the car started. Tried boosting it, got it to start. The negative terminal was smoking and melting yet the connection was secure. What do you think the problem is?

There's high resistance at the terminal. Whether it's tight or not, there's high resistance. Could be bad inside the battery, between the terminal and your clamp, or the crimp between your clamp and cable (<-most likely).
Since the cable has gotten that hot, it's time for a new cable for sure. probably a battery if it shows damage.
