camaro cranks but wont start...sometimes.
ok so it's my father's car. 2002 SS 6spd bone stock minus an slp lid and cme. car had a bad starter and had blown a few starter solenoids in the past. we fixed that and the car ran great for quite some time. then all of a sudden after sitting for a few weeks it cranks but wont turn. dad grabs the code reader and said it was throwing an EVAP code. he cleared the code before i could record it. hasn't thrown that code since. car finally starts, no code, we drive it about 70 miles to get it to try and trip a cel. no joy. park it and try to crank it immediately there after. turns but wont crank, and no DTC's. it's getting 50+ psi of fuel pressure, but no spark. doesn't appear to be vats. was maybe thinking evap solenoid? but how would i know for sure?

Evap solenoid has nothing to do with spark.......
As mentioned......sounds like the Crank Shaft Position sensor is starting to fail on you. Change it. Takes 10 min.
And NO......most PCMs will not throw a code for a failing CSP sensor......the code will pop up after its totally dead and you are stuck somewhere and cannot get it started no matter what you do.

try this: ignition relay. It's the same as the fan relay and they are right next to one another. Swap them and see if it works. (Just don't forget about the fan relay) I had a similar issue a few years ago. It would crank and start just fine one minute. The next it would crank and crank but no start.

just to be clear, this is a crank no start condition right?
when cranking pull a boot off spark plug, hold close to plug and
watch for a spark.
if no spark, check ur crank position sensor and wiring to PCM.
let me know...

Ok guys sorry for not checking back in. We figured it out, auto stoned sold us the wrong ign relay. Went and got the right one, problem solved! Thanks for the responses though.
