Default Clunk in Drive No clunk In Netural

Message says it's all when braking or coming to a stop in drive I'll get a clunk from the rear doesn't sound tranny related (I hope) but when I put it in netural an brake it's smooth as butter the car is an A4 98 trans am with 44k miles plz tell me this can be something small? Hate to keep posting but I need advice with ppl who have delt with this before the shops drop the hammer on me

Check your u joints might have some slop in them.

sounds like torque arm or mounts?

When I had the car looke at they put in on a lift an did a visual inspection supposedly they said they still looked good.. Maybe I should replace them anyway
