Default Car wont start

Ok. So I bought this car back in April. 01 TA. Since I've owned it, it has had a security light. I thought because i didn't have a fob.. It only came with one set of keys to...

Well recently it wouldn't start. I would have to play with the ignition on and off. on and off. Foot off the clutch, turn the key, foot back on the clutch, turn the key then it would start. Now recently, it wouldn't start at all. Had to push start it to get it home friday night (when it didn't start). Wasn't home all saturday then I got home sunday...fired right up. Now again today, wont start. WHAT GIVES

When it doesn't start, is the security light on?

The fact that you can push start it tells me maybe you have a problem with the clutch safety switch. If it were VATS, I don't think you would be able to even push start it as VATS will disable the fuel injectors as well as starter.

First check if security light is on. If not, check the clutch safety switch.

If the clutch safety switch is functioning properly, does it TOTALLY cut/keep power from going to the starter (as in will NOT even crank), or just the coils and injectors??

It prevents the car from cranking - keeps power from the starter.
