Default pulley wobble

Not sure if I can get a good answer on this one, but I'll try anyway. The car is an 07 Z06. I have just recently replaced my power steering pump due to a failure. I used the auto zone rental tool to remove and press the pulley back on to the new pump's shaft. Great tool by the way.. really easy to use.

Upon putting everything back together and starting the car, I noticed that the pulley has a slight wobble. The shaft itself looks to be straight and true. It isn't affecting the belt at all. I haven't checked to see if it straightens up with more RPM. I will do that tomorrow. I never remember noticing a wobble before but my memory is half gone anyway. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Thanks for any info.

Sounds like you got one with a bent shaft cause the stock pulley doesn't really bend, it breaks cause it is one big POS!

I assumed it had something to do with the pulley being slightly off.

Not unless you bent the pulley when you pulled it off the old pump.

I wish I could remember if it wobbled before.

It's only a slight wobble that doesn't affect the belt. Something I should be concerned about?

Had some time to go check it out... the pulley is definitely tilted, ever so slightly, on the shaft causing the wobble.

Could be a problem at high RPM.

No doubt. Pulled the pulley off today. It's bent where it goes on to the shaft. So that's why it looked straight on the shaft but wobbly towards the ends. No idea how it bent. Maybe the puller, or maybe when I got a socket stuck behind it... however, given where it's bent, I'm putting my money on the puller.

Ordered a new one from the local dealer for $24. Not bad!
