I have a 98 and just looked at my bracket with the pump attached. The large casting that sticks up on the earlier model is used for an extra mounting hole. There is a half moon shaped strap that wraps around the bottom of the pump that all of the bolt that mount the pump to the bracket go through. That strap gets bolted to the casting on the earlier models. I think it will work since you still have the 2 main mounting holes. The strap and high casting basically just allows for the third hole in the puttom of the pump to have a place to attach. I can post pics if you need them. I have a turn one pump with the slotted pulley so you can see the bolts.

Me neither. Thought they were all the same. Good to hear that it worked.
