Default Grinding metal/bearing sound with...

Hey Guys,

Just today I started the bird up and noticed a small squeal from what seems to be a belt. and then there is a metal grinding noise(bearing from a pulley) i assume at bout 1500 rpm's only.

So my question is what belts are what i need to replace? idler pulleys, tensioner? I did have the steering pump changed out some months ago. And one last thing I felt somewhat of a jerk while mildly reving the engine feels more like something is rattling with movement. Thanks for the help.

troubleshoot it first. remove serp belt and see if it goes away if it doesnt remove a/c belt and see if it goes away. sometimes you can spin the pulleys by hand and find the noisy one.

You can run it without a belt for a minute if it's hot. Certainly long enough to know if the noise goes away. Just make sure that you do it under the same temp conditions.

Grinding metal sound might be the water pump. Pulleys usually squeak, tensioner springs usually knock.

Even if it's the water pump, they are very easy to change.
