Default LQ9 6.0 help. common problems?

just bought an LQ9 6.0 out of a Silverado. engine will stay mostly stock for a while other than the swap headers, intake and ecm flash. 105k miles, 200x8 compression.

- any recommendations for maintenance before I put the motor in? any parts that regularly fail or have caused some problems? any links to good info would also be appreciated. im fairly new to the GM LSx scene. so thanks for the help.

If you plan on doing a cam and springs, do it now while the engine is out.

My wife has a 03 Silverado with 6.0L...it is not uncommon for oil pump issues. Either the pick up tube o ring or relief valve in the pump can get stuck open not allowing pressure to build.

I'm going through this right now in our truck with 165K mi on it...I'm HOPING to toss some thicker oil in it and hope the pressure comes up on cold starts. It's taking 15 sec for oil pressure to start building after truck sits in 20* weather overnight. When it does build it slowwwwly comes up and is erratic between 12-15psi...verified with a mechanical pressure gauge.
