Default Fuel Filter

This may be the first time the fuel filter has been changed. I recently purchased this fine lady and have been changing out all of the fluids, belts, hoses, plugs etc.

The plugs were a fun job, as most of you know
Someone actually changed them once before and left two of the five coil pack bolts out of the valve cover. I can certainly see why, but.... anyway, the mechanic also did NOT tighten the plugs, they were only hand tightened. not sure why....

It's fairly common to leave the rear most bolt off the coil rail, since it's by far the hardest one to reach. This is not a problem IMO, since the rail is perfectly secure without that last bolt. I see no reason to leave off two though.

In any event, if you have a small ratcheting box end 10mm wrench, that last coil rail bolt becomes quite easy to remove, and thus putting it back (if you choose) isn't so bad either.

fuel filters, second only to the neglected cooling systems.

mines been replaced twice since I got the car a little over 2 years ago, first time was general maintenance after getting the car and running a bottle of Lucas Fuel System cleaner (the small 10 dollar bottle), I gave it 2 tanks of fuel to work the Lucas thru then slapped on the new filter, then about a year / year and a half later the fuel pump died so I had the filter replaced with the install of the new pump.

I change my fuel filter out EVERY year, but then this car sees MANY more miles in that year, and is used EVERY day, unlike most on here,

I'm on my 3rd or 4th fuel filter. I'd have to look it up. Change it out every 10,000 miles. Too much crap in the gas station storage tanks. Very inexpensive maintenance item IMO.

You should leave those 2 bolts out, I did the same on mine and it's perfectly secure, it's not like there's a lot of stress on that bracket, the original bolts are overkill.

Fuel filters get changed every 5,000 on mine. 5 minutes and about $10.00.......why let it go longer.
