Default Braking issue

I had to hit the brakes pretty good a couple of times over the last week. I noticed that my tires started to skip and the traction light came on for a few seconds.

Is this crummy tires or a symptom of something else like crummy brake pads?

If it did that as you were going over rough road, it's completely normal.

Well, that's possible, but it was a normal neighborhood boulevard. I wouldn't have expected it. Since the tires were skipping, I guess the brakes are doing their job.
