Default Oil Pressure sending unit

Just spent the evening doing the LS1-->LS6 PCV conversion and replacing the Oil Pressure sending unit. Stupid piece of crap is still acting up. It was bouncing before super crazy. The old sensor and the new sensor did this. The car is off and look where the pressure gauge is at. I'm guessing it has something to do with the actual meter in the dash now right?

I'll be ordering something to verify manual oil pressure tomorrow. I'm super tired tonight.....

Any ideas?

The oil pressure gauge will not reset to 0 when the key off like the rest of the gagues (when turning off a running engine). If you turn the key back on it will move to 0.

Same thing happened to me - dud part. Evidently this is very common and one of those times where an AC Delco part is the only way to go.

I think I had originally put in a Wells sensor and it bounced out of the box. The AC Delco sensor has been fine.

Which one did you use, D1818A?

I used the AC Delco part for replacement. Yes JB, when I put the key forward, then back to off it goes to zero. I just don't remember ever remember it doing that other than when the sensor seemed to be bad. I've had the car for nearly 12 years now.

If you press the hatch button the needle will also slowly go down with each press as well lol.

That's the same one I used but didn't resolve the issue. The oil pressure gauge is doing the exact same thing as before.

Mine will hop every once in a while, but it is now where near as bad as the old sensor or the cheaper replacement sensor. I've contemplated putting a real gauge on the engine to watch it, but haven't gotten much further than that.

I am also going to install an aftermarket (Auto Meter, Innovate, Stack, or such) oil pressure AND oil temp gauge one of these days, since the cluster gauge just cannot be trusted.
