Default Fuel Gauge Problem, Help!

So I've been having this problem for about a year now & I still haven't found the solution to it. If you guys had this type of problem & solved it, can you please tell me what was wrong and how you fixed it.

It doesn't matter how much I fill the tank up to, but after cruising around whatever I have left of fuel it'll only be displayed when the key is on. And when the ignition switch is off it'll stay on to whatever I filled it up to.

Here's the video I uploaded to show you guys what my car does:

Huh? What's the problem? Your gauge only reads with the ignition on?

Isn't the fuel gauge needle suppose to go down when the ignition is off?

No it just kind of floats there until an electric current from the sensor is sent to the gauge. Since there is no power without the key in the on position the gauge just self levels so to speak. So the only time to tell how much gas is in the car is with the key in
