Default Removed AIR Now HVAC Does Not Switch

Removed the AIR! setup on my '01 TA. Followed previous threads and deleted all the items needed. Situation now is when I adjust the HVAC controls for foot/head/defrost it will not change. It is stuck on head or straight. I know that the system operates via vacuum so for troubleshooting purposes I removed the cap from back of the intake and ran a connector to the hose in the harness. Attached picture for reference. Suggestions?

Check the and make sure the vacuum line on the back of the intake is hooked up because that will effect the A/C controls.

Correct. Capped both the line and the manifold. When it did not work I removed the caps and connected the line to the back of the manifold but same issue.

Currently not by the car but if you trace the small vacuum hose through the harness it goes to somewhere in the headlight/overflow/front fender area. Is there a canister of some sort which holds vcauum? Also if you look at the picture posted the vacuum lines connect to a union fitting which is white at one end. Is that a one way valve?

Confirmed there is a vacuum canister under the passenger side head light area.

Per other threads, why do folks cap off the port on the back of the manifold when removing the AIR! system? Where does the canister draw vacuum from?

Remove that canister and all the lines and just use a T-fitting off the back of the manifold to have vacuum for the HVAC..

thats how mine is and it works fine.
