Default how to prelube an LS engine

Howdy,

Giving back to the community here.

I've used this board quite a bit during my Porsche 911 LS1 conversion.

One of the things I never really found was an adequate discussion of how to prelube an LS1. I tried taking the drill to the distributor but I couldn't find the distributor. Lol.

Seriously, here's a video with what I did. I used the Melling Pre-Lube Tank.

You drain your engine, fill the tank with oil and then blow it into the engine through the oil temperature sensor port using shop air. While you have oil pressure showing, rotate the crank once to bathe the mains. You should then be able to start it with no fear of spinning bearings.

Hope it helps.

The project thread is on Pelican since it's a Porsche.

I pull the fuel pump dues and sparks plugs. Bump the starter 4 seconds at a time until I get oil pressure. Put the plugs in. Hump it once more to make sure still have pressure. Put the fuse in and fire it up.
