Power Steering Pulley Came Off. Why? How??
Driving car for first time in a month. Previously driven during a street tuning session, with no problems. Decided to drive it to work last night. Ran fine, at 2nd red light heard a loud noise in engine bay. Pull off see pulley laying in street. What would cause the pulley to come off? Pump shaft "looks" ok (not sure what a New shaft looks like to compare teeth wear). Shaft spins freely. History: my rack has been leaking for some time and I filled with Lucas stop leak a while back. Fixed leak, but started leaking again last week. Would this contribute in any way? This car is rarely driven and in fact has been stationary for the most part of 3 years with change in build plans. Pump has been off block but not unhooked from rack. Pulley has never been removed or attempted to be removed in any way.
Never encountered this before and trying to figure out what all I need to replace.
Thanks guys and gals

I put the truck pulley on mine. Was able to get it lined up. It's metal. Not as nice as turn 1 cause no holes

yes that exact thing happened to me. I run a truck pulley now. Solid steel and a bit larger diameter for reduced effort.

Pulled everything out today. Looks like the center core part of pulley separated from the pulley itself, center of pulley is still attached to pump. Anyone seen this before?? Just curious at this point.

After seeing that, I am so glad I have a Turn One pump/pulley on mine!

Got my new Turnone Pulley and bought new reman pump yesterday. Waiting on funds to order a new rack and pinion. Mine has been leaking for a while, so figured I'd just replace every while I'm at it!
Just trying to give you time to catch up, little bro!
