Default Is my lid wrong?

I was looking at lid's on several f body birds last night & they all have an air opening in the front. My p/o installed a rubber gasket sealing the front but he cut open the inside (I guess for the ram air mod).If I remove this rubber piece it looks like the air will travel under the filter. Sorry if this is a newbie question, I appreciate the help.

Leave it as is. Looks like you have the stock trans am base not the ram air. the original owner added the cold air kit which is better than the stock ram air anyway

You have the SLP FloPac cold air induction kit installed. Leave it alone.

Here is a link for what it looked like when purchased. Sponsor link:

If it came with the K&N air filter I would go with something else unless you like to clean the MAF a lot.

I have trimed that plastic trim in my past z28s ivd had. Kinda making it a high rise from a ss/ws6 .. Allows more air flow even tho you already have slp ram air cold air.. If you have some time on your hands do it ..
