97 z28 stock rear end?
hello, I'm new to the forum and couldn't find a thread that answered this question so my apologies if this has been asked before somewhere else.
I have a stock 97 z28 (not anniversary edition). While doing some rear brake work the other day i noticed my passenger side axle had a pretty good amount of end play so i am going to pull the diff cover off and check the c-clip. now for my question.....
do these cars have limited slip rear ends? i only ask because i haven't gotten under the car yet to check the diff cover. im just planning ahead to buy the oil (80w90) and wanted to know if i need to get LS additive.
Thank you!

You should have the auburn differential which is a limited slip posi unit. The auburn unit uses clutches so yes, I would add 2 bottles of GM limited slip additive.
Even if your differential fluid says it already has limited slip additive added, I would still put a bottle of GM limited slip additive in there

Yes, you should have the Auburn LSD rear in your '97, the factory recommendation is for conventional 80w90 plus one 4oz bottle of GM LSD additive.
Don't refill it with synthetic lube. This often causes issues with the Auburn.
