i have a 98 firebird 3.8, i did the vats bypass around a year ago and it worked up untill about a month ago. Now it's intermittent if the car will start or not. Sometimes it starts right away like normal, sometimes it wont start for 30 minutes. Could the ignition lock cylinder be bad?

Could be worth a shot but very unlikely, recheck the resistance of the resistor you put in its place? maybe the value has changed although I doubt it, just a thought and its easy to start from scratch and re-read everything out to see if anything obvious sticks out.

Just repeating what was just said, but I would make another resistor bypass and try that. You could have a bad BCM if it's not seeing the resistance

Does the SECURITY light stay on when it won't start? If so, your bypass may be faulty. If not, you're likely looking at a separate issue.
