2002 6.0 vortec low oil pressure
Hey guys I was hoping I could get some advice, so I bought this truck about a month ago from the original owner it's a 2002 Silverado 2500hd with the 6.0. It has 214k miles and runs and drives like new, no weird noises, shakes, squeaks or anything. So when I was test driving it I noticed the oil pressure read that it was at and alittle below 20psi which I was alittle concerned about because my other truck (2000 2500 with a 6.0 as well) was normally at 40psi or slightly above. I drove the truck for about 2 weeks and then I saw the check engine oil pressure light flash for a split second then went away which startled me alittle bit but I continued to drive it for a few more days then it happened again so I changed the oil. Before changing it I ran motor flush I think through it then drained the oil and filter and refilled it with royal purple 5w30 full synthetic and I believe it was a wix xp filter. The pressure still read the same. Then about 3 days later once the truck would get up to operating temp the check engine oil pressure light would come on at idle. I thought the pump was bad so I didn't drive it for a few days until I was off for easter break and I overnighted a new melling oil pump and felpro gasket kit from summit. I changed it over the course of 3 days with a few tool runs, it wasn't too bad to replace other than not dropping the pan so I had to get that bolt off with the curved plyers and tied some fishing line around it so it didn't fall in the pan. So after I let everything sit for 24 hours after reassembly I start it up and it reads exactly the same and still gets the light at idle and now even at 1k or less rpm rolling up to a stoplight. It doesn't have any lifter tick at all and when the check engine oil pressure light is on at idle everything sounds completely fine. What do you think it could be? My thought is possibly the oil pressure sensor is whack or something. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'll tell you what I would do if it were mine. Pull the oil filter and use a air blow gun to pressurize the oil gallery with air. Take off the valve covers and listen closely. If its a cam bearing you will be able to hear the air rushing out in that area. Maybe you'll hear something else? But its a start in the right direction.
