Default Need help -- engine braking???

I have an Ls1 with an a4, 3:73 gears and a 26 inch tire and a frost tune (if that matters). When I'm driving on the highway at 65-70 and above if I left off the gas the car feels as if it's engine braking. If I put it into neutral the RPMs drop from like 2200 to 1200, the if I pop it back into drive I can feel the car braking. not a dragging brake since it only does it in gear.) It does this at 35-40 too but it isn't as noticeable. Is this common with 3:73 gears or high compression engines to brake like this? Also is it normal for RPMs to be between 2000-2400 at 65-75?

I have 3:73 gears and no matter what speed I'm cruising at....if I lift my foot of the pedal......I absolutely feel some engine braking. Nothing bad.....but definitely feel it.

My rpms (4L60E) at 65mph is right around 2,400-2,500 rpm.

Its because the converter is locked. totally normal. tap your brake to unlock it and see the difference

I have noticed the brake seems to do that. I went from a 97lt1 to the 99 with the Ls1 and my 97 never did that which had me curious. Also when I let off the throttle and then tap the throttle again I get a little popping sound (kinda cool sounding), could that be from running slightly rich or something?

Pretty sure it locks back up immediately after I tap the brake btw. Guessing that's still normal?
