When I first fire up the engine is have 40 to 45 psi. After getting to running temperature and running about 60 mph down the road it drops to 35 to 40 psi. Looks like I'll have to replace pump. Any suggestions on what kind I should replace it with? Brand? Higher pressure? Any input would helps. Never done it before. Thanks

**** mine drops to 20-25 when warm lol it isn't the pump btw pumps create flow not pressure. If anything it MIGHT be the oil pickup tube or the bearings or the rings. On mine I'm pretty sure it's the bearings and rings on #7.

35-40psi while cruising? Thats normal for a stock pump.
Does it climb up when you go WOT?

My suggestion at this point would be to not replace the pump at all. Doesn't sound like anything is wrong with it specifically. If these readings are recently much lower than before without any changes to ambient conditions or oil grade/type, then you might be looking at a failure of the oil pressure sending unit (you could either replace it, or verify with a mechanical gauge.) But there is nothing dangerous/harmful or even alarming about the readings you've listed for a stock LS1 pump, so pump replacement would certainly not be my first step.

Thanks for your help guys. Your input is greatly appreciated. It just seemed low to me, but glad to hear it's normal. This being my first Camaro that I've had for about 8 months now. It's got 110,000 miles on it and just wanted to make sure that the pump was still working properly. I thought it would be around 40 and higher. Thanks again.

I've had a 98 that had a 20 psi warm oil pressure, even though that's considerably down from where I would want to see the pressure, the oil pressure would still consistently climb as the rpm would rise

Oil pressure should rise 10 psi per 1k rpms. So it was climbing to 45-50 psi by Redline and was still building pressure. As long as the pump can still build steady pressure it is safe to keep running without changing the oil pump

For reference I can remember getting a new at the time 2013 camaro ss as a rental car from hertz, and warm oil pressure was 30psi, and that was what the car made brand new warm oil pressure

Looks like pretty good pressure. How many miles are on the LS1? I've got 311,000 miles on mine and idles warm at 30 and drives at 60. I have, however swapped my oil pump 20,000 miles or so ago.
