I just walked outside to a puddle of coolant under my car. The car was cooled so I popped the coolant cap and it appears as if all the coolant has clumped for some reason



This has me worried...what's the dealio?

sounds like maybe your dexcool is done with. flush everything and add new dexcool and water in a 50/50 mix. and get a new water pump.

before i go about replacing the waterpump id like to make sure thats what it is.

well this happened to me and i decided to wait and see what happens, then my water pump went out and i blew my head gaskets, not fun, the dex cool clumps up when it is exposed to air, so i guess you must have a leak somewhere

well after talking to a few people it seems as if i need a complete flush and I need to most likely replace my waterpump. hopefully the pump hasnt completely crapped out to the point of taking out the opti, but well see.

should I go with an electric or replacement WP?

my opinion on the water pump is go with stock simply because to me its not worth 10 rwhp to risk not having the pump work or be turned on. but thats me

I agree with this statement and to add to it from what I've read it's not always 10rwhp...3-5 rwhp in most cases. Only reason I went electric was because I went with a Pete Jackson Silent Drive Gear Drive and there is no turning back and you cannot use a mechanical wp anymore.
