Dumb Newbie Question: Why won't my jack stands fit?
I am attempting to change the oil, and I got a 2 1/2 ton jack to lift up the drivers side of the car to put the 3 ton jack stand under and then do the same thing on the passenger side. The problem is that the jack stands are too tall! Did I get to tall of jack stands? Too small of a jack? Am I missing something? Sorry for the dumb question.

Either Jack stands are too high or jack doesn't go high enough. Can you fit the jack under the car if you put something underneath it? I would try to put a block of wood or two under the jack and then jack it up as high as you can and see if you can fit the jack stand underneath. Make sure you are starting out with your jack stands in the lowest setting. Also, BE VERY CAREFUL because there is not enough room for a person underneath that car if it slips off the jack!

Might want to check where you are placing your jack. Maybe you have selected a place that isn't low enough. I put mine inboard on the subframes, behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels.
