Just turn the switch the first position. If you want the fogs on to, just turn on the fog switch while the headlight switch is in the first position.

Maybe I'm not understanding, but there should be 3 positions on the switch, off, park, headlights. Just turn it to park lights.

Hmm intresting. Is it legal to use a brighter set of fog lights and keep the headlights down at night? (if that's even feasable).

When I do that the headlights still raise,but the lights don't come on. I want them to stay down when I put the switch in the park position.

If your headlights are popping up with your just parking lights on that usually indicates a bad headlight motor (one or the other or both..doesn't matter). Do the headlights pop up when your alarm sets..ie: locking the doors or unlocking the doors? Mine are bad and thats what it does. When they are working properly they should only come up when you turn the headlights on...not the parking lights.

One is the original and the other is brand new(less than 1 week) they both come up when you are in the parking light postion and when you set the alarm.

Probably the original one has a stripped gear. Either side having a stripped gear will cause both to act as you describe and it's unlikely that the new one would be stripped already (unless something is binding and causing too much resistance on that side).

I used to do it all the time without problems. I only used to do it around well lit areas though.

If you do it that way the lights remain in the up position. Just turn the switch to the "P" (first setting).

Headlight=bitch..

If your headlights make a grinding sound it means your plastic gear inside is worn out.. If this happens your lights will not function correctly.. not sure why... but they won't... So if it's making this grinding sound it's not likely you are getting the results you want which is the park lights.

If your motors are working correctly you need to just put your headlight switch in the 2nd position. This will turn on your park light... you can also turn on your fog lights in this postion... If you move to the 3rd position this will engage your motors and your low beam. Your park lights will remain on and your fog lights can toggle on and off. Moving back from 3rd to 2nd will turn off your low beams but leave up motor and parklights... Fogs can be toggled in this postion.. 2nd to 1st will engage you motor (close) & shut off parks.. Fog lights will not work in this position..

But if you have a messed up motor these functions may vary... Also I highly recommend rebuilding your motor over buying new.. You will save alot of money and because of the design of these motors you will have to continue to replace the motors forever until you rebuild one with this kit.

Thanks for the help. The motor on the original is grinding or hammering when it is trying to go down. Thanks again.
