The belt broke!!
driving home from work after racing my buddy, and about 10 minutes after the race my belt broke, the serpentine belt. no power steering or nothing it was over heating, i drove it for a lil let it cool down and drove it let it cool down etc. till i finally made it home, i plan on getting a belt tomrw but was wondering how do you get the tensioner to give? is there a write up on this? any info would be great
thanks
also is there any where i can get a belt at 1 am a night? is there any auto stores that are open 24hours?

just for the record.... Aluminum + overheating = big problems. Next time dont drive it until you get it fixed. Hopefully you dont have any head gasket issues.
There should be a sticker in your engine bay that shows the routing of the belt, and the direction you need to push on the tensioner to get some slack.

Don't think any are open 24 hours, but looks like there's AutoZones in your area open at 7:30am Saturday morning: find the closest one at http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...ayStoreLocator
Here's how to change the belt:
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
2. Disconnect the mass airflow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body and the air cleaner box.
4. Position a hex-head socket on the belt tensioner bolt.
5. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension on the drive belt.
6. Remove the drive belt from the tensioner and pulleys.
7. Clean and inspect the belt surfaces of all the pulleys.
Installation Procedure
1. Route the drive belt around the pulleys. [see attached diagram]
2. Position a hex-head socket on the belt tensioner bolt.
3. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension.
4. Install the drive belt onto the drive belt tensioner.
5. Inspect the drive belt to ensure that the belt is properly aligned into the grooves of the pulleys.
6. Install the air intake duct to the throttle body and the air cleaner box.
7. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
8. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
