Default Weird Shimmy under hard breaking.

Out hammering the car last night. Coming off some highspeed runs I get a nasty shimmy trough the steering column. I know it is not the rotors, so I was think front wheel bearings or tie rod ends. What do you all think?
This is in the 94 Z
Thanks all.
Mike

Sounds like warped rotors... why are you ruling them out already?

I've had off the shelf brand new rotors that were warped.. you don't know what the delivery people or stores do with those rotors before you recieved them.

You didn't say when this happened, does it happen when braking? or just driving at high speeds?

It's always happened on my car in the 3+ years I've owned it. I've never changed the brakes though....I will do that next week. If it doesn't fix it, we'll be in the same boat.

Im going to bet you have a bad set of rotors... If it was tie rod ends or ball joints you would of known that while just driving normal.. you would also have some front end noise while turning like clunking or poping.

do you pump the brakes at all or just mash evenly slowing down from those speeds? if you dont let off at all you probably warped the rotors already..

pretty much every new rotor that i have replaced has had minor warpage.Sounds like you either got a real bad set or you got them way to hot already and warped them

did you bed the rotors/pads in correctly? I'm betting you warped them already. My LS1 was warped by 3000 miles

If it isn't the rotors, then it's ball joints or tie rod bushings. There aren't a lot of other things that would do that without more serious side effects. My bet is warped rotors.

Rotors fixed it. The ball joints look like they could use some help, but that is next season. This car is my racer.
