Grab by the boot, and not the wire, you may have to wiggle and twist the boot to get it to come off, especially if they've been there awhile

Or, you could go to Autozone and rent a spark plug cable removal tool, which will grab the boot and hold the base of the wire in place as you pull and twist. No rippage.

No need for the tool. I assume you are taking them out to replace the plugs anywayz. Probably should replace the wires also if its time for the plugs. Just twist by the boot to loosen and pull off. If the wire splits no biggie use needle nose pliers to pull remaining wire on plug and go from there. Have fun and good luck...

I just remember the first time I changed my plugs. Ripped three wires from their boots first time out! Course, I hadn't learned the "twist and pull" method yet, and I thought the boots would come off easy, like they had for every other car I'd owned previously. Learned the hard way that day.
