Default check "guages" flashing driving me nutz

ok i want this resolved once and for all. my check "guages" light keeps flashing intermittently at idle. it only does it at or near idle. this i believe is causing the car to hesitate at low rpms. when cruising or above idle its fine. what are the causes of a check guages light? i mean does it only go on for oil pressure, voltage, temparature, gas, etc?? or can ignition problems cause this? can you check codes for the check guages? could it be a bad alternator? please help.

If your voltage is going low enough during the idle surge then thats poss the problem look at your volt gauge while it doing it.
