Relocating driver's seat for leg room...?

Relocating driver's seat for leg room...? Has anyone done anything like welding brackets on to their drivers' side mounts and moving the entire seat back get more leg room? I'm 6'6 and I barely fit in the car, it's more annoying now because my DD is an 06 Eclipse and I literally have an extra foot of legroom in that tiny car.....
