Default AC system capacities...

How much Freon does the entire system take? and, How much oil is required to be added when a new compressor is installed? Also, does anyone know what type of oil this is? If memory serves me right, there are two different types of oil that can be used on R 134a systems...

Thanks for any info in advance!

1998 Z-28 should take 1.5lbs of r-134 freon, and when replacing compressor 2 oz. of should be used if new compressor was shipped dry. Where ever the compressor was bought should be able to tell you what type of oil to use, there are several different types. Hope this helps.

I think you use Ester oil but there are different grades so you need to check up on which one.

I usually just keep filling with the AC on/car running untill the AC pressure sensor kicks on the system. Then, I turn off the bottle and make sure it keeps running. Add untill everything works without cycling on and off.
