Go to NAPA to buy the replacement pump, they are cheaper than the stealership.
Thay are made by the same manufacturer too.
If you change the pump, buy two new gaskets, other than that there really isn't anything related that you can change, except for upgrading to a lower temp thermostat (which you can do anytime.) NAPA doesn't carry aftermarket low temp thermos.

If money is not an object you can drop $400+ on a meizere electric water pump and pick up a few horses while you are at it . I think you can also use the water pump off the LS7 engine . As far as the thermostat, I use a Hypertech 160 degree thermo and you can buy it from any number of vendors on the site . If you go with this thermo either get a manual fan switch or have your computer tuned to cut the fans on earlier .

I have not seen a dyno comparison on the LS7 pump compared to the LS1 . From what I have read it is a better design and should cost around a $100 give or take . I do not really see it making a huge difference but if I had an excuse to replace my waterpump it would be either the LS7 or the Meizere electric .
