Default SEAFOAM - works great!

Hi Folks
I tried Sea Foam for the first time and it works great. I totally amazed on the improvement in drivability. I used on 97 Z-28 (LT1), daily ride - the car was bucking in fifth gear (1500 RPM) when I gave it to much gas. Now it just pulls and does not buck anymore. It could be short term but I will find out.

I would recommend to everybody, great stuff.
Bill

How did you use it on your LT1? Cuz if you use the the brake booster line doesn't it just flood cylinders 3 and 5? I've been wanting to use it but I've heard you have to use a whole bunch of different vacuum lines.

Hi Folks
I used the Brake vacuum line - I used a restrictor in the line so it would only suck a very little at a time. I did at idle, did not have rev the engine at all. It appeared to work. I did not know about 3-5 cylinder issue. I might have to redo it. The car runs great, so I have to believe it did get to most cylinders.
Thanks

Bill

Not to be downer but be careful using this on older LS1 engines in the fuel system. The fuel rails are known to get a bit rusty inside and putting seafoam in the tank may dislodge the rust and clog your injectors.

Good tip, but I think most of the guys feed it through a vacuum line, as opposed to dumping it in the tank

I believe the instructions are 1/3 in the brake booster hose, 1/3 in the crank case and 1/3 in the gas tank. But I may be mistaken.

Actualy I believe you are correct, but I usually just put it all in the brake booster line.

Oil is Mobil 1 (no need for additives), and I use Techron in the fuel tank

I thought you were supposed to use 2 cans? split one between the tank and the oil, and the rest in teh brake booster line.... Then run the car till its on E for a while, then change the oil.

If you are going to use sea foam in your vacum line the best thing to do is get a can of Berrymans that comes with the hose and use that. Works very well just like the seafoam and you can reuse it time after time. Gotta love steamcleaned pistons
