Default Tie rod replacement Question???

The boot on my tie rod is all busted up and cracked. Should I have a shop replace it or could I do it myself. Where could I find a good write up/how-to?
Also, the car has 106,XXX miles, should I replace the whole tie rod assembly?

Thanks for any help,
Joshua

If you're going to do it, get the same brand thats on there. Loosen the nut that locks the tie rod one turn, and count the number of turns it takes for it to come off. Thread the new one on the same number of turns, and tighten the nut. This will help keep your toe adjustment were it should be if you do it yourself. It's an easy R&R.

Swapping those isnt hard, its keeping your front end aligned. You may have to get an alignment afterwards, so I would do them both, just in case, and check your ball joints while you are at it.
