Default Problem starting car

Ok, I was wondering if maybe someone will know whats wrong. My car recently has been making a strange noise, its kind of like a rattle/vibration of some sort that even occurs when car would be stopped at a light or even at idle. I dont know if the rattle/vibration is seperate from what happened. Anyways, I went to go start my car, I put my key in and turned it. Nothing happened. No noises, no clicking sound or anything. I dont think its my battery because I think the gauges and everything came on and looked fine. I tried turning it a few times and nothing would happen. It wouldnt even try to start or nothing. After waiting a few seconds I turned the key and the car started up. It seemed to struggle starting up a little bit like if I wasnt turning the key hard enough or something. I think it has done this on another occasion a while back. I havent really had any problems like this. Do you think maybe the starter is going out? I would like to fix this problem before it leaves my driveway again.

I'm having the same kind of problem with my 99 Z28. I'll turn it the first time, nothing happens. The second time it will roll over and act like it'll crank and the third time it fires right up. Not sure what's going on but I'd like to know... quickly. Any help is appreciated.

You guys sound like you are having problems with your VATS system...
Do a search on VATS...Vehicle Anti Theft System (I think.. )

Especially if your "security light" is on when you turn the key and the car won't start...

When I was installing my transmission I forgot to undo my battery. Somehow I touched something to my starter without me knowing it and grounded it out. After searching high and low for a reason of why my car wouldn't even try to start (no clicking no nothing) I changed my starter and vola, it fired right up. Even though it might not be your problem just thought I would share. Just a thought.

Ok, so anyone have any ideas. I hadm y windows down and wasl istening to music in my car while I did yardwork. The music stopped and it looked like maybe the cd had messed up, but it wouldnt change tracks when I turned them. So I try to start the car and it wouldnt do anything like mentioned above. What is wierd is I will putm y key in and turn the ignotion and everything comes on, the radio will play, but the gauages go wacko, like tach, battery, and other gauages will flip back and forth. Anyone have any further guesses? Could it be the vats???

lol, I just went out side to try it one more time, and now I am getting the clicking when I turn the key, and the gauges go wild. It is the alternator right?

Check your battery connections/voltage first - sounds like it crapped out. Have it load tested.

I think it is my VATS system. My security light stayed on today whenever I turned my key off so I'm really going to need some help on this.
