Remove belt, remove radiator hoses and heater hoses, loosen water pump bolts, remove water pump. Take off the thermostat and put on new water pump. Installation is reverse.

do you have to remove the air intake and get it all from the top or do it all from under the car?

Yes, remove the air cleaner box (lid and box) and bellows, and also the electric fan assembly.

do what fast337 said. make sure you have new gaskets. Better not to risk having to take it off again.

Easy job, probably 20 min. 2 new gaskets (depending upon year of car) Water pump. So many people have electric water pumps you could probably get a stocker for free.

It's definately not too difficult, once you start digging in, you'll be done in no time. Just use some common sense.
