Default Oil Change light

I changed my oil two weeks ago. I used Mobil 1 5w-30.

Took 6qts even. The oil line on the dipstick is dead smack inthe middle of the operating range.

My oil pressure is fine. But here for the last few days everytime I start my car the "Oil Change" light comes on. And stays on until the car is warmed up. Even then it will come on every now and then. Then turn off if I give it a little gas.

What gives?

Get in your car, turn the key "on" but dont start the car. Push in the trip odo thing and hold it on till your oil light flashes, that should reset it.

That is for the trucks and SUV's for GM. Some of the pontiacs, like the grand am, grand prix are on the left side of the dash by the fusebox.

You can also turn the key to on (don't start the car) and floor the gas pedal 3 times, that shuts off the oil change light without resetting your trip odo (that is if you care about your trip mileage and don't want to loose it)

No no no, put the key in the "start" position, but don't crank the car. Just so all your auxillary stuff comes on.

I put 6 in. Measured. Its in the middle of the XXXXXXX operating area. Its only been two weeks. Hasn't moved a bit.

Also this did reset the light.
